Lol, thanks! My biggest worry is adjusting to higher mileage/intensity, particularly during my freshman year. This is the main reason I would really like to redshirt my freshman cross season.

I heard about your guys 2x2 mile tempo workout at Camp of Champions, and have done it twice so far (after suggesting it to my coach) and I LOVE IT. It's probably my favorite workout now, way better than just doing a boring 20-25 minute tempo.

Yes, that is another of our important workouts. It can be really tough in my opinion, especially if it's really hot outside.

I went with the Nike Waffle XC 9's in black/green/purple. I used to make fun of the name, but once I saw these online I had to get them. I used them in our 3k time trial and loved them!

Why'd you choose to run in the Waffle XC's instead of a more lightweight shoe like the Mutumbo or Victories?

A friend of mine went with those too, they look pretty sweet. Good luck to you this season.

Probably because he realized the minimal weight difference really doesn't matter. He knows that if he runs fast it is because he is a fast runner and not because of the spikes he wore. Your spikes just need to look dope. That is all that really matters.

I have a ton of respect for Jason and he's a great runner, so don't think that I'm acting like he's stupid for buying spikes that are a little heavier. I'm also running in Nike Waffle XC 9's this year, but I was under them impression that the Mutumbos and Victories were the more popular spikes that Nike makes.

I went with the Waffles for a few reasons.
1) The weight difference (I think it's like 3 ounces or something) between the Waffles and the Victories or Matumbos isn't a huge deal for me, at least in cross. If it's on the track, I'd take the Vics any day.
2) Because it's cross country, and we run on a lot of trails, obviously. I feel like with a spike like the Victories, it would feel too awkward/painful to run on top of roots or rocks, just because of the lack of cushion. The Waffles have way more cushion without adding a ton of weight.
3) I'm just kinda tired of the color of my Vics, and I wanted to change it up a little.

At a course like Lavern, I think I'd have a choice to make. Since it is all grass and no rocks or roots, you could easily get away with wearing the Vics or Matumbos. Also, I ran in Vics last year at the state meet, so we will have to see.

There's a pretty long answer to this, but I'll just give you the short answer. We do quite a bit of barefoot running, mostly to just strengthen foot muscles that can't be worked as much as if running in trainers. I'm sure Overway could go on and on about this topic, since it's a minimalist concept.

Not sure how much I want to make public, but sure I'll try. Younger runners who want are interested in running at the next level and want to know how a visit works, listen up!

I left school after lunch on Thursday to catch my flight to DC later in the afternoon (which was great timing, because there was a gun threat to our school on Friday). Once we landed in DC, my mom and I met up with Austin Gregor (runner from Gtown) and Mark Derrick (recruit from Illinois.....also Chris Derrick's little brother). We took a taxi over to campus so we could drop our bags off and also meet up with the other recruits, Ahmed Bile and another guy from Illinois. Later we all went out to eat with the coaches, and then back to the dorms to go to sleep. My hosts were Max Farrah (won junior nationals in the steeple) and Tyler Anyan (8:52 guy in high school). They were pretty cool guys. Me and Max played a lot of Call of Duty during our down time, and Tyler was hilarious.

Friday morning, I did my workout of 2 x 2 mile with Ahmed. Right before he started, he told me he was going to go off of one minute rest in between each set, but I told him there was no way I could do that, so I went off 5 minutes. After the workout, I went to a chemistry class with Max and Omar Kaddurah (also a really cool dude). We then had lunch in the cafeteria, which may have been my favorite part. They had every type of food imaginable, and it was all you can eat 3+ times a day. Needless to say I stuffed my face. Later on in the day, we watched all of the guys on the team do a workout. It looked like a pretty complicated workout, so I wouldn't be able to tell you what they did. To finish up the day, we had a pizza party at one of the guys' apartments, which was a lot of fun.

Saturday morning, the entire team did their long run at Rock Creek Park (it reminds me a lot of Eagle Creek). The top group did about 100 minutes, but I only did 70. We then had brunch in the cafeteria again, and I did not leave hungry. Then we went back to the dorms and hung out for a while before I had a meeting with the coaches and my mom. After the meeting, we took a taxi back to the airport to come back to Indy.

Overall, Georgetown is a great school. I liked all of the guys on the team, and they were a great group of motivated guys. The biggest difference I could tell was in the people. A majority of the students at Georgetown are from the east coast, so they are just different than us Midwest people and what I'm used to. It's hard for me to tell if I really liked Georgetown or not; I think I need to take more visits so that I have something to compare it to.

Sorensen was there. I actually spent a lot of time with him. Since he's an older guy he doesn't live extremely close to the dorms, so he also didn't host any recruits.
