What do you do for nutrition and do you ever eat McDonalds?

Well first off, this is Elena. To answer your question I am a bit of a health nut. I always try to eat all natural things or anything organic. My basic philosophy is: good in, good out and junk in, junk out ;) I rarely ever eat fast food, so I don't usually eat at McDonalds. I hope this answers your question :)

This winter has been fairly mild, but what's your training like in the winter and how do you stay motivated?

Well, I have been running consistently in the winter now for two years. This year I had a goal to run at least 40 miles a week and run every two Sundays, which was new for me. I usually run with the guys on my team, and they are really motivating. I always like to run outside, even if I have to trudge through mounds of snow or blustery winds. I guess just knowing that running in the winter will make me a better runner, and to succeed I must brave all types of conditions keeps me going.

I saw on your recent blog that you did some running at high altitude last week. What sort of challenge does that present when you first get there, and do you feel any difference/stronger when you get back?

Ususally every year I go and visit my grandparents and as a bonus the higher elevation is there. I have ran out west for the past 4 years or so and always have a hard time adjusting to the elevation at first. I was having trouble running faster and it took me a little longer to feel comfortbale breathing normally. I got used to the elevation though after about 3 days. I haven't really noticed in the past being able to run better when I get home, but this year I noticed how much easier it was to run here in Indiana. I would have to say it did help running up higher!
