You back from the mountains yet? I took a trip through Dublin, Wales, London, and Paris through EF Tours a couple weeks ago and it killed my running...and I developed a taste for the demon drink. Thankfully, I can't buy it here in the U.S. so I broke that quickly...I had trouble finding places to run in the packed cities, and Paris was kinda trashy. You have any luck?

Yup, came down from the hills of Frankfurt a couple weeks ago. Now I am in Hannover. Its pretty flat but a lot of dirt trails. So I am loving it. Yeah.... drinking is straight up disgusting.. I`ve had to try it a few times and it sucks. Plus beer (alcohol in general) and running dont even mix. it makes me feel like crap and feel slow the next day.... and no.... i only had a little. so no ideas haha. Its hilarious to see all these germans work out and kinda run and ride their bikes and then sit down to a huge recovery beer. no wonder there are not that many good german runners. ;)

What do you guys think is the best course here in Indiana? Personally I think Northview is real solid and it seems to get bigger and better every year. Just curious. post your opinions

I've never run at Northview, but I'd say that New Prairie is the best course.

Yeah, there's a decently sized hill that used to be covered with sand, but the hill is all dirt now.

well for me, I'm not much of a chocolate milk guy, or milk, or chocolate to be honest. I really like that new Gatorade recovery drink thing. Powerade zero is where is at though I love that stuff, if its hot enough I can tear though a couple 32oz ones with ease. Also, IDK if your a big caffeine guy (I'm not), but I did try that Hydrive Energy stuff, and its awesome. There isn't THAT much caffeine in it and not much sugar so its pretty legit I think. As far as eating goes I usually just have a solid dinner with all the major food groups you know. Breakfast I eat alot of cereal, banana or apple, and clif bar. I do love Clif Bars and I encourage everyone to try those. Awesome tasting, good for you, and good for the environment. The Clif Bar company does it right and they have some of the best products on the market today for endurance athletes. As far as other recovery methods, I stretch a lot, massage with the foam roller and "muscletrac" and ice sometimes. I have also done yoga and/or meditation before (though I'm not sure if that would be considered recovery?)

that all sounds like solid ways to recover. I have heard that caffeine is good for recovery but I am not into energy drinks or anything like that. I used to take a sport multi-vitamin that had caffeine and all that recovery stuff but it gets expensive quick. Chocolate milk is the way to go. Its probably the best bang for your buck and its really a very good recovery tool. I actually used to use Endurox r4 and I really liked it and had really good results with it. Now I switched over to GNC's version of it but its boosted with more amino acids and protein for better recovery and I love that stuff. I love cliff bars too. other than food. I use a foam roller, jump rope for dynamic stretches and the stick for massage. I also really like the foot massage balls. Its amazing how much your foot can control. Like leg pain and back pain. I also take the ball and roll it on my legs it really really helps.

Tradgic story from XC camp....:

Well at Noblesville XC camp I put all my dirty running clothes into a trash bag. and of course someone picked them up and threw them away. So now I really have nothing haha. Does anyone have any old/new small running shorts they would be willing to sell?? or does anyone know of a place where I can buy some nice but discount shorts? haha now I am a college kid on a budget.
