"AUGUST 20 --- Ashley Erba of Warsaw set a new record at the Huntington Invitational with her first-place finish in 18:34. Teammate Anna Bearss was second in 18:54. Carroll, however, took five of the top 11 team places to easily win with 35 points. Huntington was second with a tie-breaker over Homestead with 110. Warsaw edged West Noble by one point for fourth with 128 and Columbia City was sixth with 140. In the boys race, Warsaw junior Jacob Poyner ran down Homestead's Max Silcox over the final 400 meters and won in 16:12. Silcox came through in 16:15. Carroll's Jon Harper was third in 16:33. Carroll went 3-7-10-14-17 for 51 points and tied with Homestead at 2-9-12-13-15. Mitchell Slater, Carroll's 6th runner in 17:20, outran John Rose of Homestead in 17:46 to clinch the team title. Warsaw was third with 80, followed by West Noble (135), Huntington North (147), Columbia City (201), and eight other teams."
