Floyd Central boys, girls win Hokum Karem meet

SELLERSBURG — Floyd Central’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams each placed first at the Clarksville Hokum Karem meet, held at the new course behind Silver Creek Primary School in Sellersburg on Tuesday.

The Highlander boys won by the narrowest of margins, edging Silver Creek on a fourth-man tiebreaker. Also in the boys meet, New Albany placed third, Borden took fifth, Jeffersonville placed sixth and Providence finished 11th.

In the girls’ meet, Floyd Central took the meet by a comfortable 13-point margin. Silver Creek again lost a tiebreaker, this time to Salem for the rights to second place. Also in the girls’ meet, New Albany placed fifth and Providence seventh.

Borden and Jeffersonville did not compete in the girls’ race.
