Darkhorses for 2011 Cross Country Season

Postby Cracker_Jack6 on Sat May 14, 2011 2:31 pm

We all know who the standout Cross Country teams are and probably will stay that way for seasons to come such as Carmel, HSE, Columbus North, etc., who will be the darkhorses for this upcoming season, also who will be the dissapointments?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with North Harrison as a dark horse. It's too early to figure out which teams will be disappointing because you never know how teams will replace the seniors that they lose.

North Harison in my opinion will be the 2nd best team next to Columbus North next year, with the possibility of taking them down at state barring any injuries.
Johnnie Guy (12) - North Harrison - 15:31 @ Brown County Semi-State
Karson Tays (11) - Columbus North - 15:52 @ Conference Indiana
Brogan Armand (9) - Evansville North - 16:02 @ Trinity/Valkyrie Invite
Josh Guy (12) - North Harrison - 16:11 @ Brown County Semi-State
Kyle Chesser (12) - North Harrison - 16:14 @ Brown County Semi-State
Jason Head (12) - North Harrison - 16:22 @ Brown County Semi-State
Clayton Orender (12) - Bedford North Lawerence - 16:28 @ Brown County Semi-State

I actually think north harrison could compete for a runner-up spot, Columbus North will continue to be dominate as they return deihn, Kelsey, and sublette. With an exception to hse, i think Hamilton county schools will become more vulnerable. Teams like noblesville, Westfield, and maybe even Carmel.

i agree north harrison is in contention for state runner up. they return reynolds, foster, and the guy brothers, all of whom made it to regionals in track. plus they return chesser who ran a 4:31 at their sectional.

All of you are forgetting about Valpo. They return all of their runners and would have finished 4th last year if their #3 guy that finished right with their #2 guy all year not passed out in the middle of the state race. They have a lead runner in Aljobeh and the rest are all freshman and sophomores this year and will be great for many, many years to come. I predict state champs or runner up.

Spencer Clapp- Cathedral will go sub 16 this year. ( He ran 17:29 at Sectionals last year. He has been a monster in the 3200 this track season, only reason that he didn't make regionals is because he ran again Futsum, Filamon, Hoard, and Scott Stanley.
Runners are made in the winter.

I would look at Mishawaka, St. Joe and Valpo all being on the podium. The Northern part of the state will be well represented.

The million dollar question is why the original poster thought this was playground material?

Playground Material Warning:
I think both SB Clay and Washington will be well represented at the Riley sectional. They may even send an individual to the Elkhart regional.

The play ground rules state that the playground is meant for non running related topics. A true disappointment that it was not in general. Additionally, I don't think North Harrison will be competing for a runner up spot this year.

You said north harrison wouldn't be competing for a runner up spot even though they beat the number four team in the state. Therefore, they will have expectations of either winner or obtaining a runner-up spot.

Competing is defined as taking part in a contest. The contest in the state meet is first place, not second. Why would you aim for second and not first? Rhetorical question, you wouldn't. Therefore, my previous statement stand correct, they will not be competing for runner up. Additionally, I do not think that they will get second and would bet a significant amount to a boast opinionated person. Furthermore, this is getting too off-topic for the playground.
