I actually do have some questions about the all star camp: What is the daily schedule for the camp, What you learn from the camp, and what type of competitive runs does the camp do? And also what do you mean by "best" Fun for your personal self as a runner ,or something else?

well there is a morning run, and an afternoon run each day, morning run was a harder workout a couple of days. Then there is usually a speaker or something after lunch, and then competitions are held in there as well like basketball, euchre, volleyball, ultimate. You do have free time in there as well. As for competitive run, the most competitive run I would say is the group Indian Run that is run on the soccer fields the last day I think. I remember it so well because I got pwned. Everyone splits inton their groups and runs indian run style around the half mile or so loop for a set # of laps. It is not very competitive at first but the last couple laps it is like all out. The coolest thing is the group 1 race which has like some of the top guys around the state. Last year was an epic showdown between walden and mascari. It is a really healthy enviroment though, and everyone cheers each other on when they get done. All star is less about serious training, and more of a learning expirience. The goal isn't to kill yourself, it is to meet new people, have a good time, and learn alot more about running. The quality of speakers is awesome. You are taught alot by people who really know what they're talking about. Hearing stories from Bob Kennedy is something I won't forget. One of my favorites was actually the Columbus North coach, I really enjoyed the stuff he shared. Everyone gets something different out of it, and Im sure my expirience was different than some others, but it really is a great camp. You can't really go wrong with Koeppen, seriously an awesome guy.

Yeah their is a whole lot of differences between the two camps. All Star is definitely less competitive than paavo. Paavo you have a competitive run almost everyday. All Star definitely has the fun it by having Bob Kennedy come and Coach Koeppen running the camp. And also All Star has the experience to meet great runners around the state so that freshman and sophomores have people to look up to. And the camp also has the fun side of cross country by playing ultimate together and even the Indian file run style.Paavo is like more of the spartan way to go. At paavo you set up your own tents and sleep in tents. At paavo you take showers that are cold as lake water (although I do not take showers at all during paavo). Paavo is also like a classroom you bring a binder with some paper and you take notes and write some quotes. At paavo everyday there is a morning run, a midday run, and an afternoon run (afternoon runs are competitive runs). Paavo is tought by many coaches around the midwest and even the country. Most of the things are tought by Marshall Sellers (The Founder of Paavo), and Coach Weinheimer. Paavo is alomst like the hardcore version of all star. Both camps are good depending on what type of training you do, and also what kind of person you are like.

this is something I've wondered about.....are Paavo camps structured the same as the Paavo program that is used by CN? I can't imagine Rick has his guys run 3 times a day? Correct me if Im wrong, but the Paavo program originally only calls for 2 runs a day, but the camp adds in that third competitive run? Do you run hard workouts in addition to the competitive runs in the evening?? Seems like an abnormally high volume and high intensity for this time of year. I am aware that there are different camps around the country at different times of the year, but after time off after track you wouldn't think an athlete would be able to respond well with three runs a day. I actually looked into attending a Paavo camp sometime, but they are a little expensive, and money is tight. I've heard conflicting opinions on the Paavo program and Paavo camp. Some people say it is more individualized, some say it isn't. I am more inclined to believe that it is a set program, but the intensity and volume of work are dependent on the athlete's fitness and their PRs. Perhaps you could PM me with what a normal Paavo week of training would look like preseason, mid-season, and championship-season, for say, a 15:30-16:00 guy. I would really appreciate that, I am really interested in different training principles and programs, as I plan on becoming a coach someday.

The camps are way different from the actual program, for a good reason though.Coach Weinheimer actually loves the idea of three times a day, because it builds a better system for the runner, and it builds a huge base for the runner as well. Actually the program does call for two runs a day, but I guess at camp the third run is a midday run just to get mileage (At paavo no matter what their is a competitive run alomst everyday in the afternoon). The mileage is based on what the individual is at, at that moment. Usually most people run what ever they feel like in the morning and midday, but some runners (mostly north guys) run hard every single run like for example Michael Sublette in the morning ran a 10:30 2mile and in the midday run he ran a 10:36 2mile then in the afternoon he had a competitive run on an intense trail, it just depends on your system and your decision making. And I know 4sstar might not agree with me, but the system is individualized. And I'll pm you basics of the program.

Air Force Academy Cross Country camp. I went the last two summers and it is so much fun. Trails, running in the altidude, and the coach is training top american athletes. I saw Jennie Barrenger do a work out. It was a lot of fun.

Plus the guys you meet are from all over the country and are a lot of fun to hang out with. I highly recommend this camp. I'm actually thinking about attending the Academy because of this camp. It's that awesome

Does PAAVO give gummy worms? I know all star dies not provide them, but allows them and allows you to get them.

All star gets my vote. Someone informed me, that even though they do not supply gummy worms, you have the chance to bring some and purchase some while there.
