Hey everyone, for those of you who don't know me my name is Ross Pereira. I'm a senior at Lawrence Central this year.

First off, congratulations to everyone on a great season of Indiana Cross Country, setting the standard for future excellence in our state. Best of luck to all of those competing in post-season races.

Now, the basketball tournament. Last year, Sean O'Brien (Warren Central) organized the tournament and it was a fun time with great participation. This year, Lawrence Central will be hosting it. All of the proceeds will go to the National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum, a group that my little brother Grant is affiliated with. We're thinking of having it either Saturday December 17th, Monday December 19th, or Tuesday December 20th. Well choose a date that works best for the teams that want to partcipate. Depending on the interest shown and the possible sponsors I may be able to get, we might have shirts for each participant of the tournament. My basketball skills are to that of a tiger striking its prey. This tournament might as well be like the girls state meet with carmel, because all the other teams will just be competing for second.

You may be right, I assumed we'd be off these days because we were last year but I am wrong. We will either have to do it on a Saturday or move it back to another day on winter break. I'm up for suggestions.

Well I know Christmas is on a Sunday this year. I'd first check to see what dates the gym will be open and what works best for everyone. Then we can go from there.

Alright guys sorry about the dates I suggested being during school, but I finally got ahold of our Atheltic Director and the LC FIeldhouse is available on the following dates and times:

Saturday December 3rd - 2:00pm to 10:00pm (4 courts)
Saturday December 10th - 2:00pm to 10:00pm (4 courts)
Saturday December 31st - 12:00pm to 10:00pm (6 courts)

So for those teams that are interested, figure out which date would be best for your players and let me know on here or via cell phone. We'll chose the date where most can participate and go from there. Like I said once I get an estimated number of participation I'll decide whether or not we will get the event tshirts and I'll also decide the price for each team and organize the tournament bracket.

I think December 31st would be best. Everyone will be on winter break. Plus it's New Year's Eve so everyone will be staying up late anyway. Btw I don't know if the guys talked to you but Jason told me through Facebook that FC would play for sure. Filimon, Kent, Luke, and Josh all seemed pretty interested in playing again too.

I know more people want it to be during winter break, since there's no school stuff to worry about. But it would be more convenient for some people (im talking about myself/my team here) during early december, no? You never know when people will be going out of town over winter break. Visiting family and whatnot for the holiday season. Just my two cents, id prefer dec. 3 or 10

Are the rules going to be the same as last year for the most part (2 halves, running clock until the last two minutes of each half)? I was also going to suggest only having free throws the last two minutes of each half so that the clock isn't running on free throws and also have free throws after two fouls within the last two minutes of each half so that we don't have to keep track of too many fouls and a team that's behind still has a chance to come back late in the game.

Alright guys we've decided on Saturday December 3rd as the date of the tournament starting at 2:00pm. Thus far, Lawrence North, Franklin Central, Avon, Warren Central, 1 or 2 Warren Central Alumni Teams, and Lawrence Central have expressed interest. In order to set up the brackets and tournament, the last day teams will be able to sign up will be December 1st. You can enter your team by letting me know on here, facebook, or texting me. The rules will be made and posted in the next couple days. Spread the word, the more the merrier.

The cost will be $5.00 per person, up to 10 people per team. Your school can have as many teams as you want.

Also I just want to mention that there is a chance (not definite) that Warren Central would host another cross country basketball tournament for charity at some point during Christmas break. Jason brought it to my attention that Nike Nationals are December 3rd. He and Tyler Sanford (LN) both told me that they would be up for playing in two tournaments. Josh (LN, IU) also said that he might not be able to play on December 3rd because he'll still be in school. I'm not sure what date this would be on as I would need to check with Warren's fieldhouse director, but I just wanted to put that in everyone's ear that it might happen.
