Wow, impressive run by the LaPorte boys.. I think I said the same thing about them after seeing these meet results last season. Maybe I should stop being so surprised.

If I remember correctly, this is NOT a 5k course though, right? I remember some debate in the past...

Definitely a 5K course with a slight change this year in that they made it more fan friendly. In doing so it probably was a little slower because of the extra turns that were muddy yesterday.

There should be no questions about the length of the course because I heard the meet supervisor was the same as the one that measured the Brebeuf course........just to be sure he added 100 meters. Funny, that there is seldom any "discussion" about the lengths of the Indy courses, but then again it is the MECCA for distance running in the state.

Right you are, chrisgriffin.
Whenever there are faster-than-expected times in central Indiana it is usually attributed to "the competition".
Up here in "Da Nort" the length of the course is usually called into question.
(i.e. the "Niles Stampede" course in Dowagiac (this year and previous), the course at Culver Military Academy, New Prairie's course...and many more.)

Culver use to be 200m long I thought, but is just a pancake of a course. Love it. Fast place.

NP usually is about the competition I have always said. NP Invite = Flashrock, if not better due to not having the races split.

However, this Stampede has always brought out fast times. Just a fast course? I have no idea where they do this course at. Is it overlapping with any parts of Steve's Run?

Please don't turn this into the same old debate!

I just thought that I remembered from the past that this course's length was called into question and could not remember the verdict.

Let's let it be. It is a fast course and LaPorte is legit. Finished.

The start/finish is on the middle school grounds in Dowagiac, MI...same town as Steve's Run but I'm not sure if any of the course overlaps. I believe the course was laid out by the legendary Ron Gunn - the driving force behind Steve's Run.
