Memorial did not run several of their top girls. I believe they were being rested for Tuesday's Evansville City meet

Brogan sat out practice with a 103 fever yesterday. He probably shouldn't have run today but he said he felt good before the race.

Caleb, Congratulations on a good season so far and good luck next month. Maria, Claire and Taylor were all not able to run because of some level of injury.

Thanks,
Mr. Mehringer

bmehringer wrote:Caleb, I imagine you work very hard, and you do run well. Congratulations on a good season so far and good luck next month. However, if you do not know something for sure, please don't speculate...it is ok to say, "I don't know." Maria, Claire and Taylor were all not able to run because of some level of injury. They do not rest their legs by skipping meets.

Also, your comments about the USI course being shortened were very disappointing...it detracted from others' achievements and doesn't reflect well on you.

Thanks,
Mr. Mehringer

Goodness gracious, why are you guys jumping at every opportunity to make Kerr look like a bad guy? He qualified his answer with "I believe." He never claimed he had any certain knowledge. Memorial does have a history of keeping its varsity runners out of some meets, such as the Alan Hopwell Invite the last few years when they sat the entirety of their varsity squads so they could rest up for the State Preview meet. It's not dishonest or disingenuous. It's just part of the sport. I'm sorry to hear about Memorial's injury problems, but there's no need to be so defensive.

As for comments about USI, the Pike Central results are further evidence that the USI course changed since last year. Last year the Prides Creek course was unequivocally faster than USI by a sizable margin. This year runners ran times at Prides Creek that are remarkably similar to what they ran at USI two weeks ago. Kerr's assertion that the course changed is not unfounded. He's drawing conclusions based on the empirical evidence available to him. I don't see how you can honestly believe his comments were meant to disparage other runners. Stop trying to paint him as anything other than what he is: a great runner and a gracious competitor.

On a side note, I can't imagine any teenager enjoys it when a parent posts about him or her on a message board.

So on a separate note, does anyone know if full results were released and given to coaches? It would be nice to see more than just the top 10 since this meet included teams who will be facing each other here again for the regional in 3 weeks.

It isn't defensive and calling him dishonest, etc. Qualifying statements with "I believe..." does not keep it from being baseless speculation. You are correct it probably is uncomfortable for an adult/parent to point this out; I will be sure my daughter doesn't post comments about specifics she doesn't know by first hand knowledge. And, please don't characterize this as some unfair reprimand or attack. He is an excellent runner and trains hard; I am still happy to see him do well, and I hope represents our region well this October. Good luck.

Sorry I don't have any more time to format that nicely.

Edit: I just realized how impressive that run is by Cain Parker of Pike Central. I remember being impressed with his performances last year as a freshman, but now he's really starting to come along. Hopefully he continues to improve and can challenge for a state berth in the coming years if not this year.

You seem to have misunderstood most of what I said so I'll spell it out. Stop taking yourself so seriously. You're not helping your daughter or her team by being a jerk to a high schooler. And make no mistake, that's exactly what you're doing, whether you realize it or not.

I didn't see her anywhere in the top 20 I just listed, but I honestly didn't read it very thoroughly.

You're right I need to cut him slack. He may just gotten some bad guidance from some misguided private coach who doesn't know boundaries or who focuses on self only. I'll apologize when I see him, and his team 's coach who works with all those runners. They are a really good team and are doing a nice job. Thanks for the reality check.

I have to get to the office; don't you have some middle school meets to get to scout?

Taurie Whitton did not run.

Full Results were given out to the coaches.

Good weather. Good course conditions. Good meet. Should be a great regional in a few weeks.

What on Earth are you babbling about?

By the way, I hope the irony of your last post isn't lost on you. I'll explain it to you if I must. It's really quite beautiful. Almost artistic.

Thank you Cicero for the top 20 as I don't have much contact or availability to results in southern Indiana here in Fishers. I will try to get full results from one of the coaches if possible. I don't know either why Taurie Whitton did not run but I will look into it and see what I can find out.
