These are lists of the top 25 performances by Indiana high school athletes in the standard events held at the IHSAA State Meet plus the 800M Relay and 4000M Distance Medley . These are the best performances under all conditions as most meets don't report wind readings.

Some times are converted from yards to metric using the standard conversion rates found

, some times are hand times (add 0.24 adjustment added for distances 300 meters or less and add 0.14 for other events), some times are both converted hand times and converted from yards to metric, and at least one time was aided by altitude (Harrison in the boys 100). The following labels are used for timed events: "a" = auto time, "h" = hand time, "c" = auto time converted from yards to metric, "y" = hand time converted from yards to metric, "e" = time set en route to a longer distance.

For comparability purposes, these lists are not identical to those in the most recent edition of Indiana's Best (Volume XVIII, 2011);

For comparability purposes, these lists are not identical to those in the most recent edition of Indiana's Best (Volume XVIII, 2011):

(1) I only keep track of the top 25 performances, Indiana's Best is more comprehensive going 50 deep.

(2) I use different conversion factors than Indiana's Best: to convert 220 yards to 200 meters, 440 yards to 400 meters, etc., I use 99.42% and to convert 120 yards to 110 meters for the hurdles, I use 100.25% (both percentages as standardized

), rounding up to nearest hundredth; therefore, my converted times for Chapa in the 1600 and 3200, for example, are slightly faster than Indiana's Best and converted times in the 110 hurdles are slightly slower.

(3) Spellings are sometimes different (e.g., I use LaShanda Harper as it appears on the IHSAA website and her senior yearbook at Harding, Indiana's Best has LaShonda Harper; I also use Tracy Smith, Racheal Marchand, Mariesa Greene, Jean Schaffer, Kimmeyonia Reed, and Katie Veith; Indiana's Best has Tracey Smith, Rachael Marchand, Mariessa Greene, Gene Schaffer, Kimmyeyonia Reed, and Katie Veath, respectively; Indiana's Best has Belair Relays, I think it's actually Bellaire Relays, etc.).

(4) Not all of the performances I include agree with Indiana's Best; examples: (a) Indiana's Best has Don Young and Glen Moore at 10.29 and 10.48 from the Roosevelt Invitational in 1983, but both ran faster (10.19 and 10.22) at the Gary Roosevelt Regional that same year, (b) Indiana's Best has Michael Smith running a 10.50 at the Valparaiso Regional in 1984...however, the regional was held at Gary Roosevelt not Valparaiso and the best time I could find for Smith was 10.51 at that year's state meet; Indiana's Best also has Devin Pipken at 10.51 from the USATF Jr. Oly. Region 7 Meet from 2006, but his time there was actually 10.50 (perhaps the times for Smith and Pipken were transposed in Indiana's Best), (c) Charles Miles is listed at 21.10 in Indiana's Best, but he actually won state in 21.19; (d) Michelle Faulkner is listed at 2:12.80 at the AAU Jr. Olympic Games in 1989, but she acutally ran 2:12.62, (e) Indiana's Best has Scott Van Sensus clearing 7' 00.00 in 1985, but he graduated in 1983, (f) Indiana's Best has some athletes with marks identified as being from AAU Jr. Olympics Region IV meets (Lynn Reed, Karen Wechsler, Yvonne Blackmon, and Mary Van Dusen in the girls 100, etc.) and some athletes with marks from Region VI meets (Collen Costello, Chris Essington, and Barb Zahorsky in the girls high jump, etc.); however I believe that all performances were from Region VI which was Indiana's geographic assignment during the time period of these performances (i.e., those labelled as region IV in Indiana's Best are typos), (g) Indiana's Best has Emily Loomis at Ft. Wayne Dwenger, she actually went to Ft. Wayne Luers, (h) Indiana's Best has Karen Nitsch at 46' 06.50 from a meet between the USA & East Germany in 1981 at Lubech (sic); however, the dual meet series between these two countries did not start until 1982 and Lubeck is actually located in the former West Germany, not East Germany; therefore, I don't include that mark on my lists, (i) Indiana's Best has a 5' 10 high jump for Miki Morrow of Hebron at the AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals in 1987, but the results show she only cleared 5' 7.75, so I don't include her in my lists, (j) Indiana's Best lists a 1:43.16 by Ft. Wayne Wayne at the 1979 State Meet, but Ft. Wayne Wayne did not advance to State that year, so couldn't have ran that time; the best performance I could find for Ft. Wayne Wayne was a 1:43.65 at the 2010 Roosevelt Memorial in Ohio, (k) Indiana's Best has Derrick Spight, Sr. with a 7' 00.00 high jump performance at the 1981 State Meet and lists him as a senior, however, he was actually a sophomore in 1981 and didn't clear 7' 00.00 at the state meet that year (nor did he clear 7' 00.00 at his only other State Meet appearances in 1982 and 1983); however, Spight did clear 7' 00.00 at the Kokomo Haworth Regional in both 1981 and 1982, the former of which I include on my lists, (l) Indiana's Best lists Natasha Whitaker's 14.30 in the 100 hurdles being run at the TAC/USA Jr. Olympics, but I believe that performance was actually at the AAU Jr. Olympics at Wake Forest University, NC, not the TAC/USA meet; likewise Indiana's Best has Walter Monagan's 400 and Dave Volz's pole vault bests identified as being from the TAC/USA Jr. Nationals, but they were actually at the AAU Jr. Olympic Nationals, not the TAC/USA meets, (m) on the boys 800 list, Kelley Marsh and David Kemps marks from 1976 are listed in Indiana's Best as being set at the Fort Wayne Northrop Regional and the State Meet, respectively; however, both marks were actually at the Fort Wayne Wayne Regional, not at Northrop or State, (n) besides conversion factors, there are also some differences in records by grade posted

(i.e., Indiana's Best has Monterio Holder as the junior record holder at 7' 02.25, but I have Lamar Johnson at 7' 03.25, Indiana's Best has Mark Jenkins as the sole sophomore high jump record holder at 7' 00.00, but Johnnie Bartley, Kevin Hughes, Chris Walker, and Derrick Spight, Sr. (see above) also cleared that mark, Indiana's Best has Frankie Young as the sole junior long jump record holder at 24' 10.50, but Ronald Robertson and Rolando Scott also tied that mark, etc.), Lisa Whitesell is listed as the sole senior high jump record holder at 5' 11.25, but Emily Loomis also cleared that height).

(5) I only keep lists for those events contested at the IHSAA State Meet plus the two relays that are contested at the Hoosier State Relays. Indiana's Best is more comprehensive and also includes other relay events such as the shuttle hurdles, sprint medley, and 4 x 1600.

(6) I include indoor performances (i.e., these are lists of all-time bests whether indoor or outdoor), Indiana's Best only includes outdoor performances.
