CROSS COUNTRY
• C’town competes at CAI Invite: Both Charlestown cross country teams ran in the Christian Academy of Indiana Invitational.
In the girls’ race, Pirate freshman Whitney Andrews finished eighth in a time of 22:15. Teammate Alysha Flaget was 13th in 23:20, while Charlestown sophomore Mary Hoff placed 33rd with a personal-best time of 26:30. The Pirates’ Brittney Miller finished 58th.
The Pirate boys’ team had two runners post personal-record times. Senior Jamie Hurley was the fastest Charlestown in 21:56. Teammate Drexler Meadors had a PR of 25:56. Charlestown sophomore Brett Brooks posted a 23:19. No finishing positions were provided at press time for the boys’ race.
“The kids raced great. They are improving each race and adapting to the courses,” Pirates’ head coach Jeremy Brown said. “Most of the kids had PR’s today, and as their coach I could not be happier with the performances today. They are working very hard and the times are reflecting that.”
