State Meet History Website!

Boys are completed. Eventually the girls will be up, but for now it is just the guys. This goes back farther than the IHSAA archives online significantly. Please submit any corrections you see.

1980 1 Curt Carey 12 Owen Valley 14:42.3

so does he have the fastest time in state history for the 5k?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Yesterday, someone mentioned that I didn't have him on the website and I realized my mistake and fixed it this morning. Please check again and refresh your browser if it still doesn't have him. I just looked him up by last name and by school and he is listed on both. I looked up the 2002 results (his senior year) and he is listed as 15th. He is also listed as No. 69 on the 4-Year Participant list. Check again and if you still can't see him, let me know what page you looked at so I can triple-check! Thanks!

That surprises me that it's only Pendleton Height's first appearance. I always figured they had made it at least once during the Hagerman/Hardacre era, guess I was wrong.

When Hagerman and Hardacre were running, Pendleton Heights had to go through the FCSS.

I believe that team had Hagerman at 15:00 flats, Hardacre 15:30's, and 3-5 at 16-16:50 and took 6th at Franklin Central Semi-state (2 years in a row?). With those two low sticks at state, they could have been top 10 at state. They possibly had a few of the best teams during the H/H era, never to qualify for state in the past few decades? And I don't think they choked, just a wicked tough semi-state.

Check out this teams 4xmile time and DmR times on the record books... impressive!

Yeah, if Pendleton Heights had always been in the New Haven Semi-State then this probably wouldn't be their first appearance.

45th place at the 1998 state meet should be Miles Krieger (not Mike); this result is also missing from the individual name database search option.

That was the first year for the 5K distance and the course at South Grove was reportedly "significantly" short.

There is speculation that the 2003 Conference Indiana race was also short, although it's never been verified.

Ironically, as long as the state meet is going to held at Lavern Gibson no one will ever top Carey's mark because LG is over 100 meters long.

This is a small thing, but technically Columbus High School and Columbus North are the same school- they just changed the name when they opened up Columbus East.

Great site...not to be picky but just something i noticed on the team score statistics page...

99 1977 1 Carmel 112
99 1977 9 Griffith 112

Think Griffith might have the wrong score...otherwise it was a really close meet

Thanks for pointing that out. It should have been 212 for Griffith.

It should now be fixed!

I thought I should mention that it's usually pretty important to get the State Champions school right. Tapring Goatee actually goes to Terre Haute NORTH!!!!! Not Terre Haute SOUTH as it states at the main girls page right under the pictures. Please change this asap. At least you were in the same area code though......

Sorry, this is the first that I have been to the message board for a while. My mistake. Surprisingly, you are the first to point out the mistake to me. I will fix it in the morning. Let me know if you find any more glaring mistakes/omissions/corrections.
