Previews: What Did We Miss? Besides Kara Scobey?

Postby Cash on Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:15 pm

In the previews, we definitely underrated some athletes, or left some out altogether. My apologies to Kara Scobey of Norwell, Ellie Sheffield of Brebeuf, and a few others that will be discussed later.

Who did we miss? Who did we dis?

I would say that you guys missed Mary Davis in the 1600. She's the third returner and ran 5 flat last year. I know her cross country season wasn't as good as most would have hoped, but I would say that she still deserves a nod.

Zach "The Prodigy" Snider he probably wolnt be all state but I still have him going low 4:20s if not high teens if he goes with the 1600. Colin Rinne tied for the top sophomore time this past xc season I'm sure he'll be turning heads with his good looks and times. Also Logan Hambrock probably one of the most underrated guys out there if you're gonna call me a "Training Beast" this guys a "Training Maniac" if he keeps healthy I can see him around 4:17/1:56.

I have two guys that might end up surprising a lot of people this year.
-Joe Trueblood of Seymour had an amazing end of cross country season this year. I normally don't relate cross country success to track success since both are completely different, but I can see him being a contender with the Guy twins and Carl Smith for the 3200. Look for him to go mid 9 minutes.
-Basing this off of cross country once again, Arthur Cross-Najafi of Bedford North Lawrence is poised to make waves. It's quite amazing how much progress he has made in these few years. He was looking strong coming out of a honorable mention all- state finish, but now that he passed up swimming to further train for the cross country season, I think he is ready to become one of the big dawgs. I see him running 4:20 or even lower this season.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

I think Emily Koschmeder in the 800 should have been mentioned. She placed 11th as a freshman in state and broke Kristal Studer's school record. I think since she plays soccer and doesn't run cross she gets overlooked. I also think Rachel Callahan in the 100 hurdles deserved some credit. She just missed out last year placing 4th behind the great hurdlers from our regional, but she is closing in on our confrence record set by Ashley Wilhelm who ran for team USA. I think it's great coaches can get on here and brag about their kids! If you don;t believe in them, who will!?

Angelica Ramon of NorthWood might surprise some people in the 200. Last year was her first year being really coached as a sprinter. She was in the mid-high 26's.
