Muddy

So how does a muddy course play into the state meet? Obviously the times will be slower. But how does it impact the favorites; Columbus North Boys and Carmel Girls?

I am not sure it affects the favorites unless someone slips at the start and takes half of a "favorite" team down with them.

Thats definately good news for the runners...I usually don't see Terre Haute as a course that is affected too much by the weather. Obviously mud could results in slower times...buts it is also supposed to be a good temp and no rain tomorrow afternoon so that should help times

I would be interested to see how course conditions are...especially for spectators.

Any news or updates?

Ive ran in and watched a few meets at Terre Haute that have been greatly affected by mud. One year at NCAAs there were like 5 shoes stuck in the mud on one of the turns. A muddy course there could really change the outcome....especially in the girls race after 200 boys have torn it up.

It might not be technically muddy, but the course is absolutely soaked. I threw my socks away after running on it this afternoon. It poured for about 12 straight hours in Terre Haute.

Anyone coming to tomorrow's meet should expect to get their shoes and sock extremely wet.

How many people are running on it today? Why wouldn't they keep it closed?

The course is wet but solid for the most part. The runners will definately get wet. The start area/finish straightaway is soggy with water standing in several places. The spectators will get REALLY wet. The water that is not on the course is in the rough grass. On the whole much better than 2007.
