The key to running fast, in my opinion, is finding consistency in your training. Find a number of miles per week where you are pushing your body, but at the same time not feeling dead all of the time. This number will increase over time as your body gets more and more fit and used to the mileage. Everyone's body is different and everyone's "magic number" is different. In my experience, I have noticed with guys on my team and friends that I'm friends with the guys running more mileage (without killing themselves and feeling like crap all the time) GENERALLY run faster over the 10k distance than the others. of course there are the guys with more talent out there killing it. I bet if you took a poll at NCAAs with the all-americans youd find that about 90% of them are between 90-110 mpw (cameron levins 120-130mpw)- No way in heck Lawi Lalang is running 50 mpw BS
