Just off the top of my head...

Castle returns everyone from a solid 8:00 performance, it will be interesting to see what they do
Carmel is always tough and I don't expect anything less than 7:55 from them
Columbus could do some serious damage in this event if they choose to stack it
I can see Ben Davis, Noblesville, and North Central in the 7:52-55 range as well with what they return

1. Lawrence North: Watch out for Lawrence North, had a very strong CC season and expect them to return 2 of their state 3rd place 4 by 8 teamates Josh Roche and Trae Heeter. This may be only half the team, but if Zach Miller and Scott Stanley take the places of Chris Boyd and Nick Salupo the team could make a run at the tital.

2. Westfield: Depending on who runs what this team could be deadly come 4 by 8 time. returning 3 of their 4 4th place 4by8 teamates in Connor Martin, Chris Salsberry, and Connor Love. Their number 4 could be replaced and other positions switched around. Possible fill ins for their 4 by 8; Colby Shiver, Kyle Duvall, and Cole Tribbett.

3. Hamilton Southeastern: No one has talked about them yet for 4by 8 yet as far as I know. I'm not sure if all of their XC runners do track, or if they run the 4by8, but if track is a reflection of their CC season I can see a pretty good team with Joe Ebling, Will Wartenburg, Troy Reeder, and Sawyer Hitchcock

I think if LN gets everyone healthy, they struggled with injuries and sickness in the CC tournament, they could make a run for it but i dont think that Zach Miller will fill one of the spots. With Roche and Heeter filling two spots look for Scott Stanley, Zach Grese, Logan Bagby, or Will Hogston to be in either of the other two spots. On another note, dont expect LN to stack it until tournament time.

Carmel is Carmel. They have put a team on top of the podium 4 times in the last 10 years. They also tend to peak/stack the relay for the state meet. I have no idea what their sectional and regional will look like but i am pretty sure they can get out.

Westfield and North Central both only lose 1 guy. I have no idea how westfield will respond. Im sure they will still be solid. They just need a 1:58 guy. I know from my experience racing them last year that NC will definitely reload. I realize they lose Wilkins but they way that Geshay raced this year in cross i cant not see him going pretty far under 2 and they have the stud that is Futsum.

Not sure how many teams from the slow heats can come back this year just because they graduated so many guys. But I know that the 4x8 is always an event that allows teams to surprise the state. The key will be keeping people healthy and showing up on the day. I would expect the winner to go 7:42-7:45.

Doesn't North Cenrtal lose two guys. Barry Wilkins and Bahlebi?

My bad. I just went through the state meet results and looked at grades and not names but your'e right about NC losing Bahlebi. I think that will be really tough on the relay because they have outstanding talent in the longer distance events. Im not sure if they dont have enough depth for the relay to be successful or if they will just decide to split their studs up into other events. Thoughts?

I think they will split up their studs. Geshay didn't look all that impressive last year in track after a huge last half of cross. I just don't think he has the speed NC needs to bust into that top 4 or 5 teams. I think they would still medal but I also think they could place multiple others in 2 or 3 others assuming Matt Fox will be fully healthy. He put up an awesome time at NON in the freshman race. look for him to battle for a top 5 spot, little off topic but just my 2 cents

Fishers has definite possibilites. Millares, rocky, and pugh all were near if not right at 2:00 last season, and can only improve, especially pollock.. who in the world will their fourth be ? No idea, anybody know about the rest of their team? those three athletes can easily put them at sub 8:00 pace if they can find a solid 2nd or 3rd leg.

Maybe Matt Williams. He had a pretty solid season in cross. I don't know what kind of speed he has but I would think he completes the team

I think LN will be one of the top 3 in the state. They were really good last year and are getting back 3/4 guys. Logan Bagby or Scott Stanley could probably replace him. I think they could go 7:55

Lawrence North returns two guys who each split 1:55-1:56, maybe faster. I hope for they can go faster then 7:55. I remember my junior year of high school, 2004, Franklin Central had two studs and then two 2:02-03 guys and got 9th in state at 7:54! I hope Lawrence North goes faster then they did last year.

Both Salupo and Boyd graduated. Its my understanding that Boyd might be running at Purdue so check for him in the results when the time comes. But back to LN. If i remember right Salupo went 2:01.xx, Boyd, 1:58.xx, Roche 1:54.xx, Heeter 1:54.xx at the state meet. Without a doubt, I think that both Bags and Stanley can replace the two that graduated but right now LN has a stable of guys that can fill in that 4x8. I think that LN will definitely be strong early on (HSR and Indoor MIC) and potentially even unchallenged. However, the state meet 4x8 is always something interesting because teams tend to come together and have great days or fall apart and have bad days. If LN can go back under 7:50 they will be no less than third.

Yes, you caught me. This is Nick Salupo that graduated from LN last year. I think that Noblesville should get a little preseason hype seeing as they might have won last year had they stayed healthy. They did run 7:55 indoors last year and based on this cross season they could be contenders again.
